The International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants is the set of internationally agreed rules and recommendations that govern the naming of algae, fungi, and plants. The current Code, the 17th edition, results from the XIX IBC in Shenzhen in July The International Code of Botanical Nomenclature (ICBN) is the set of rules and recommendations dealing with the formal botanical names that are given to plants.

Its intent is that each taxonomic group ("taxon", plural "taxa") of plants has only one correct name that is accepted worldwide. ADVERTISEMENTS: In this article we will discuss about International Code of Botanical Nomenclature (ICBN).

Name is the means of reference to all living and non-living things. Any object known to human being is given a name to describe and communicate ideas about it. The name may be different in different languages and at different places. This was common practice for many years and even included in the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature (McNeill ) from (Tokyo Code, Greuter et al.

) to (Vienna Code.
